Meet Dr. Spitz
Steven D. Spitz, DMD is a Prosthodontist – a dentist recognized by the American Dental Association as a specialist in restoring and replacing teeth. Dr. Spitz is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. His post-doctoral studies include an appointment at the prestigious Harvard School of Dental Medicine/Boston VA Medical Center and a General Practice Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida.
As part of his dedication to helping colleagues and the next generation of dentists, Dr. Spitz is an advisor at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He also lectures on advanced applications of lasers in dentistry, with emphasis on implant dentistry.
Dr. Spitz is committed to using the latest available dental technologies – from dental lasers and 3D dental imaging to oral cancer technology, and more. Dr. Spitz was one of the first dentists in the United States to successfully place dental implants with the use of a Waterlase dental laser and is considered a local authority in the advanced use of the dental laser. He has traveled worldwide lecturing and teaching the many uses of the Waterlase®Laser and in 2004, Dr. Spitz received an award for Leadership and Outstanding Contributions in Advancing Dentistry Through Laser Technology by the World Clinical Laser Institute (WCLI).
Dr. Spitz has been honored as Best Cosmetic Dentist by the Improper Bostonian and mentioned as, “One of the most reputable places in Boston for cosmetic procedures” by Boston Magazine. He was also a recipient of COUP Boston magazine’s 2013 Lifestyle Visionary award. Spitz is owner and practitioner at Smileboston Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry and is on record with the Academy of Sports Dentistry as the dentist to the Boston Red Sox.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Spitz has long been involved locally and internationally with the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity and has served on Alpha Omega’s International Board. Locally Dr. Spitz is past-president of the Boston alumni chapter, serving alumni members and students of Tufts, Harvard and Boston University dental schools. He has served as a Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. In Addition, Dr. Spitz volunteered his services with the Boston shelter for homeless veterans and he currently works with the Peter Emily International Veterinary Foundation where he provides dental services for exotic animals. He also donates his time as dentist on call for Zoo New England’s two zoos, the Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo, working on the many animals in need of dental care.
